George Fox, MP, was born 20 Jan 1920, he was the son of Tom and Emma (Gardner) Fox.  

George registered for World War II military service 22 Jan 1941, when he was employed by Siems Drake Puget Sound contractors at Dutch Harbor, Alaska.  He joined the U.S. Army and served in Africa and Italy.  He was formally discharged 1 Jun 1944.    

The Unga High School Alaska Pen Whispers, 29 Feb 1944 reported that Tom Fox received word that his son George is an M.P. somewhere in Italy having gone to Africa last October.  The Alaska Pen, October 1944, reported a Gold Star for George Fox (gold stars identified deceased soldiers on the local Methodist Church veteran register).

The Alaska Pen, An Illustrated History of Unga, authors, T. Lauritzen, P. Arness and E. Melseth, reports “Tom Fox received word that his son George was killed in action in Italy.
