Galovin, Robert E. - U.S. Army

Robert E. Galovin was born in Unga, his parents were Robert and Margaret (Krone), he married Julia Petersen.  He attended school for diesel engineering in Chicago, Illinois.

Robert joined the U.S. Army in 1951, he was stationed at Ft. Richardson.  After two years of service he recieved his discharge in 1952.  

Robert worked for Aleutian Cold Storage in Sand Point, Alaska, for many years as its Chief Engineer and then as its Plant Manager.  He worked with the same agency for 37 years as it changed many ownerships, the last owner being Trident Seafoods.

After retirement from Trident, Robert became the harbor master for the City of Sand Point, it is where he worked from 1987 - 2001.  In his honor the boat harbor was named the  "Robert E. Galovin Harbor."  He served on the Sand Point city council and on the Shumagin Corporation board of directors.
