King Cove, Alaska
Alex Samuelson was born 3 Apr 1923 in Belkofski, Alaska, he was the son of Erik Axel and Feckla (Dushkin) Samuelson. He graduated from Seward High School in 1941 and attended college at John Brown University, Arkansas, and at Jamestown University in North Dakota.
Alex joined the U.S. Army Air Force in King County, Washington, 21 Nov 1942. He piloted P-40 fighter planes. Alex was discharged in 1946. He married Mattie Mack in King Cove.
He served as mayor of King Cove for a number of years and also served several terms on its city council. He was instrumental in developing the infrastructure within his community. Alex served on King Cove City and Aleutian East Borough school boards, from 1947 to 1996. He was honored by the Alaska Legislature for his dedication to improving his community.
